Update, March 1, 2013

I’ve had some family responsibilities – care of a parent who is ill – and won’t be back on here until at least May 1. The book is done and is being reviewed by several truly wonderful band directors/arrangers. Once they are finished looking for nonsense (there are certainly a few bits in there that can be taken out) I will make one final pass and it will go out. That may not be in the next few weeks, depending upon other issues not related to the book.

In the meantime, a couple of questions to any Sibelius users (and Finale users, for that matter): have any of you used the Garritan Concert and Marching Band sound library? Were you happy with it?

I debated buying it for ages, and finally broke down and got it. I’ve not done exhaustive testing but I tend to like the Sibelius sounds better, especially the Rumble and Fanfare instruments.

Does anyone know how to tweak the Garritan instruments so they sound better?

If you do, or if you have thoughts or experiences about the Garritan libraries in general, drop them in the comments, please!

Stay safe, y’all. Be back in a few weeks.
